A compact version of our best selling gear head machine 

Based on our popular GH1236 metalworking lathe, this new shorter version will appeal to those customers who do not necessarily require long capacity between centres, or have more limited work shop space.

With 750mm between centres, overall length is 1250mm.

Just like the larger equivalent, the GH1230 is a heavy duty gear head machine, supplied with an integrated coolant system, digital readout, LED lighting as well as a large range of standard equipment including tool post, travelling steadies, faceplate, dead centres, chucks, cabinet stand and more.

With power cross and longitudinal feeds driven by a dedicated feed shaft, which includes a safety overload clutch.

Two axis digital readout has always been a standard feature with this range of lathes, this time we have gone further by adding a glass optical scale to the top slide - making it a full 3 axis DRO. It is this traverse which requires a high degree of accuracy. Now with the added scale, it is so much easier to tread the traverse movement - with large, easy to read illuminated digits, a big improvement from having to read the small divisions on the calibrated top slide scale.
